Publisher: Fusui Gabo Very fine impression, color and condition; the fur on cat is rendered by blind printing in white areas. Two versions are known; one showing an orange cat and the one shown here with a black and white cat. In the lower margin, the print bears stamped numbers: 6.11.27 standing for Showa 6, 11th month, 27th day (1931). This impression employs baren-suji – the pattern of baren marks left in the background. This design is twice usual size (dai-oban); printed on thick hosho showing a black and white cat winding his way around a tomato plant. Two versions are known; this one, with the cat having a black and white coat, and another version with a ginger colored cat. The artist must have been fond of cats as he designed a number of other prints but this is by far and away the best.
